In October 2017, Ukraine adopted a crucial legislative health care package that is designed to improve the health of its people initiating the full edged Health Care Reform. It aims to improve the operation of the overall health care system, provide better access to treatment, introduce standardized pricing for services throughout the country and offer a level playing field for local and foreign service providers and product suppliers.
Introduction of a National Health Service (NHS) with new public procurement procedures, increasing the number of private medical services, including rehabilitation services for veterans of war, modernization of health infrastructure, introduction of public-private partnership models, satisfying the high demand for various medical products and services – are only some of the objectives of the Health Care Reform.
IFI’s, EU, UNDP and other international institutions and organizations support the new developments in the sector with specially allocated funds. The World Bank implements a loan of 214,73 million dollars to support the implementation of the reforms and improved service delivery in Ukraine’s health sector.
Through its Health Care System the Netherlands are being recognized internationally as the world leader. Dutch health care businesses are keen to explore new markets, including Ukraine, but from time to time lack knowledge of the expected government policies and effective strategies to access or expand the market.
