Does your company operate internationally in the medical sector? Do you offer innovative solutions in the Life Sciences & Health (LSH) sector? Or are you looking to enter the Eastern European market though local partnerships? Then take part in the trade mission to Romania and Hungary from March 19th to 23rd, 2023.

Explore business opportunities and meet potential, local partners. You will prepare the way for pilot projects and become part of the health revolution in two key EU countries. Recent market reports (RO & HU) show that there is high demand for Life Sciences & Health (LSH) solutions and expertise in both Romania and Hungary.

Do you want to become a subcontractor or supplier for tenders? The EU and the World Bank are funding projects worth billions of euros, and there is substantial and fast-growing private spending on healthcare.

Or are you looking to enter the private healthcare market? And want to get connected to (new) local partners or distributors in Eastern Europe? Individual matchmaking will support you to connect directly with the right audience.

With knowledge of the local market, you will be well prepared to finetune your business strategy.

The purpose of the trade mission is for Dutch companies to connect with potential partners and/or participate in pilot projects in the Hungarian and Romanian LSH sector. Eventually this will lead to concrete business and contracts for the participating companies.

Opportunities for Dutch companies

Dutch business has a lot to offer in the medical sector in both countries. Specifically, there are opportunities in:

  • digital healthcare and other innovative solutions in public and private healthcare;
  • (subcontractor in) tenders from EU, World Bank and other multilateral financing institutions;
  • partnerships with Romanian and/or Hungarian companies in the health sector;
  • identification of pilot projects, possibly funded by instruments of multilateral funding institutions.

Participation in the mission is open to Dutch companies and knowledge institutions active in the following subsectors:

  • e-health and digital health solutions, remote monitoring, prevention and self-care;
  • innovative equipment for hospitals and clinics, diagnostics, inpatient care, ambulatory care and advanced therapies.

Programme

March 19th will be a travel day.

Part of the programme from March 20th to 23rd will be welcome receptions at the Dutch embassies in Bucharest and Budapest, as well as matchmaking seminars and multiple site visits (both to hospitals and companies) in both countries.

A preliminary programme can be found here.

Organisation

The embassies in Hungary and Romania and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) are organising the trade mission, commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and supported by TFHC. Do you have any questions about this mission? Then please contact:

COVID-19 clause
The organisation will decide 6-8 weeks before the start of the mission on the continuation of this trade mission, considering the then current travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the then current entry regulations in Romania and Hungary and the situation on the ground. Participants will be informed immediately. No participant fees will be charged in case of postponement or cancellation. Even after a decision to go ahead with the mission, the organisation reserves the right to cancel the trade mission in case of unforeseen circumstances. Naturally, no participant fees will then be charged.

Corporate Social Responsibility
The government expects all Dutch companies to subscribe to international corporate social responsibility (IMVO), including by complying with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. These set out the CSR standards for internationally active entrepreneurs. Read information on CSR. Compliance with these OECD guidelines is one of the conditions for participation in this mission.
