The Netherlands again #1 on Healthcare in Europe!
The Dutch citizen receives the best care in Europe states the Euro Health Consumer Index 2015 report, released beginning of 2016. The Dutch are the leading number above 35 other European countries once since 2013 when it comes to the quality of care. The Netherlands scored 916 points of a total 1000 within 50 focus areas.
What explains the Dutch success?
The Health Consumer Powerhouse elaborates the system of the private market of health insurance companies, the GP as gatekeeper and the relatively high degree of patient organization. The institute dares to speculate: in the Netherlands, health care professionals and patients are more involved in important health care decisions compared to other European countries, where discussion is solely held by politicians, financial institutions and bureaucrats.
