TFHC EUROPE
Are you looking to learn more about the latest Life Sciences & Health (LSH) market trends in Europe? That’s probably a good idea since it’s the most important market for the Dutch LSH sector. It is of course not surprising that all this has to do with the size and proximity of the various countries, but also with the accessibility and the relatively small cultural differences. So when you start exporting, it’s pretty safe to look at our immediate neighbors first. Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom are also in the top 3 export countries for a reason.
What can we offer you?
TFHC Europe consists of a big network and works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health to combine Dutch strengths in the Life Sciences & Health sector and to sustain and improve the relationship with European countries.
Although every development of an international journey is unique, our help is welcome every time, as we:
- have partners with specific and complementary expertise on interventions that improve health systems and services;
- have a network with LSH knowledge from institutes, industry, and NGO’s that have proven their value in healthcare worldwide;
- assist to pursue comprehensive, innovative, and sustainable health sector developments;
- Assist with launching pilots of your business model to find quality cooperation partners.
What do we want to achieve?
Our mission is to provide a structural contribution to the improvement and sustainability of healthcare in Europe with the use of Dutch expertise. Together, we pursue comprehensive, innovative and sustainable health sector developments, in which we stimulate collaboration and knowledge sharing, and take into account the local needs and demands. We engage European health authorities, the private sector and other stakeholders involved in optimising healthcare.
What’s our intention?
- Stimulate collaboration and knowledge sharing;
- Engage international organizations, (local) health authorities, the (local) private sector, and other stakeholders involved in optimizing healthcare;
- Encourage structurally strengthening health care systems and making them resilient with an integrated approach.
What have we done so far?
Currently, we have 29 activities in Europe. They vary from market studies of certain countries to multi-annual programs, like PIB eHealth Germany.
The market studies give insight into the LSH sector of a specific country. A team of experts in the field who carry out the research. For the studies, we used our accumulation of knowledge, experience, and network and works closely with the Dutch Topsector Life Sciences & Health.

What trends do we see in Europe?
In the forthcoming future, we see the following trends being established:
- the search for easy-to-implement total solutions to reduce the pressure on healthcare.
- a shift from fee-for-service to value-based healthcare.
- literal accessibility and sustainability of care in the broadest sense.
Regions
West Europe
- Fact: Germany is the priority country for the Dutch for years;
- Difficulty: The health care systems differ per country;
- Chance: The excellent healthcare infrastructure, research & development knowledge, market size and attention to innovation and digitization make Western European countries very interesting to do business with;
- The next years, we’ll:
- are committed to digitization in Germany (PIB eHealth) programmatically and contribute to the care component of the German-Dutch Innovation Pact;
- follow the market study of the United Kingdom and strengthen warm contacts with the National Health Service (NHS) now after Brexit;
- will strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange between Dutch and Flemish parties.
North Europe
- Fact: Scandinavia is in the top in terms of per capita spending on provisions and therefore it has an advanced care infrastructure. Further they are frontrunner in the field of durability;

- Chance: When you’re inventive and innovative, interesting collaborations will arise;
- The next years, we’ll:
- Launch the market studies Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway;
