Demand for smart health solutions in Colombia
The Colombian health system has made tremendous strides to improve quality and achieve nearly universal access of health services to its population. This trend will continue as the Colombian government made healthcare a cornerstone in its National Development Plan (PND), allocating significant funds to invest in improving the Colombian health infrastructure, digital transformation, public health programmes and the health workforce. Capacity building in rural health systems is a high priority. The government adopted the Territorial Care Model (MAITE) which objective is to guarantee full access to the right to health in underserved rural territories areas (Amazonas, Vaupés, Guainía, Chocó, Vichada, Guaviare and La Guajira). Furthermore, the private health sector is growing with growing coverage of private insurance and providers investing in facilities.
These trends and investments lead to opportunities in hospital design & build, digital transformation, remote care and telemedicine, public health, health workforce & education. To capitalize on these opportunities for collaborations in Colombia, Task Force Health Care and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) coordinate the Partners in International Business-cluster WeCareColombia.
