China & India | Health~Holland Country Update

China remains the world’s second-largest economy, with the Netherlands as its third-largest European trade partner. China is facing rising healthcare demand driven by urbanization, income growth, and an aging population of over 310 million aged 60-plus. The Healthy China 2030 initiative continues prioritising prevention, access, and digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), with the government accelerating AI and telemedicine rollout. Sustained reforms, insurance expansion, and digital health innovation underpin China’s healthcare transformation, while Dutch expertise in elderly care, e-health, and medical devices is increasingly sought for its growing life sciences and healthcare sector.

India’s MedTech sector is undergoing major growth and transformation, shaped by supportive government policies and a focus on innovation and patient care. New initiatives like the National Medical Devices Policy and the “Made in India” campaign are encouraging local manufacturing and partnerships, while also making it easier for foreign and domestic companies to collaborate. The nation’s digital health efforts, especially the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, are modernizing how patients and doctors connect and access care. Collaborating with Indian partners opens doors to fast, affordable innovation and access to a large and diverse patient population.
