Texas is emerging as a global hub for MedTech and digital health innovation, offering a supportive ecosystem for Dutch Life Sciences & Health (LSH) companies seeking to expand. The state is home to prestigious, world-class institutions, such as Texas Medical Center, the Texas eHealth Alliance, Houston Methodist, and MD Anderson Cancer Center, providing many opportunities for organisations to collaborate with leading healthcare partners. In addition, Texas boasts a thriving startup ecosystem, supported by incubators, accelerators, and venture capitalists investing in innovative healthcare technologies.

Texas Medical Center (TMC) specifically stands out as a leading life sciences ecosystem dedicated to advancing healthcare. TMC spans over 70 million square feet and has more than 120,000 employees. In 2023, TMC and Health~Holland launched the TMC Netherlands BioBridge. This strategic partnership serves as a conduit for Dutch entrepreneurs, researchers, clinicians, and industry stakeholders, facilitating access to the US market and promoting knowledge exchange.

What to Expect

The Netherlands Business Support Office (NBSO) in Houston, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and Task Force Health Care (TFHC) organise the LSH mission to Texas as part of the multiannual SMM LSH United States programme.

During this mission, the delegation will meet with a range of stakeholders in Houston and Austin. The programme will include:

Preparatory workshop in the Netherlands on Thursday 18 September, focused on pitch training and perspectives from Texas
Site visits to private hospitals and major health networks
An introduction and deep dive into what Texas Medical Center (TMC) offers to accelerate the growth of Dutch organisations in the US market
Networking meetings with key opinion leaders and potential partners in the US healthcare sector

Participation Costs

The participation fee for this mission is €500,- (excl. VAT), per organisation, with a maximum of 2 participants per organisation.

The participation fee includes taking part in the collective program and site visits, networking events, lunch, and dinners when included as part of the program, and local support by the organising parties.

The participation fee excludes travel and accommodation costs (such as hotels, international and domestic transport) and all individual costs, such as lunches and dinners outside the program and for individual meetings.
