Exploring Opportunities in the Nordic Life Sciences & Health Market
Our Story
Task Force Health Care (TFHC) recently coordinated the Life Sciences & Health (LSH) Trade Mission to Norway and Sweden. The mission provided Dutch organisations with valuable insights into the Nordic healthcare systems and unique opportunities to explore collaboration.
Day-by-Day Highlights
Day 1 – Sweden
The mission began in Gothenburg with a Health Seminar that set the tone for the week. Business Region Göteborg provided an overview of the Swedish healthcare system, while Sahlgrenska Science Park and Co-AX Accelerator highlighted opportunities for health tech collaboration. Participants also received practical insights into innovation support from the Västra Götaland region and legal guidance from WERKS Advokater AB.
Day 2 – Sweden
The group then visited Sahlgrenska University Hospital, where Gothia Forum shared how it supports clinical trials, and innovative projects on prevention were presented. A tour of GoCo Health Innovation City offered a glimpse into a thriving new hub attracting international researchers and entrepreneurs, including companies such as Norlandia.
Day 3 – Norway
Arriving in Oslo, the delegation was welcomed at Oslo Science Park by Norway Health Tech, Innovation Norway, and Nordic Proof. Together, they showcased the strength of Norway’s health innovation ecosystem. Distributor Hepro provided valuable perspective on implementing welfare technology. The day concluded with a networking reception hosted by the Netherlands Embassy, where Ambassador Ines Coppoolse spoke on the future of Dutch–Norwegian collaboration.
Day 4 – Norway
The final day explored the incubator programme at Digital WellVentures and Oslo University Hospital. These sessions underlined Norway’s commitment to fostering innovation in healthcare, particularly in the fields of digital health and clinical collaboration.
Key Takeaways
- Innovation hubs are the growth catalysts: Facilities like Sahlgrenska Science Park, GoCo Health Innovation City, and Forskningsparken – Oslo Science Park are leading platforms fostering cutting-edge health tech innovations.
- Strong support for market entry: From legal advisory at WERKS Advokater AB to innovation acceleration through Co-AX and DigitalWell Ventures (Stefan Petersson), there’s significant support for international companies aiming to enter the Swedish and Norwegian health markets.
- Opportunities in clinical collaboration: Institutions like Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Oslo universitetssykehus are open to partnerships, particularly in advancing clinical trials and healthcare delivery innovations.
