Kenya and the Netherlands enjoy warm bilateral relations on a broad range of areas of co-operation and trade spanning over decades. The health sector is one of the sectors these two countries can explore areas of mutual benefit. A visit to the Netherlands by a Kenyan delegation was a first step towards this goal. 

The Kenyan delegation participated in the event “Healthcare in Kenya & the Netherlands” on February 7th organised by the TFHC together with the Dutch Embassy in Nairobi, RVO.nl and Health~Holland. The Kenyan delegation consisted of the following representatives from the public and private health sector:

  • Elkana Ong’uti, Chief Economist, Chief Economist and Head of the Division of Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Health.
  • Laban Thiga, Chief Radiologist, Deputy Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health.
  • Andrew Mulwa, County Executive, Health services Makueni County Government & Chairman, County Executives for Health Forum.
  • Gladys Marima, County Executive Member in charge of Health Services in Kajiado County, & Human Resources and Intergovernmental Relations Committees of the Counties Health Executives Forum.
  • Amit Thakker, Chairman, Kenya Healthcare Federation.
  • Kanyenje Gakombe, CEO & Managing Director, Metropolitan Hospitals Ltd. & Chairman, Kenya Association of Hospitals.
  • Geoffrey Korir, Senior Policy Officer (Economic Affairs), Netherlands Embassy Nairobi.
