Partner Spotlight: The Medical Export Group (MEG) | Improving Neonatal and Public Health Worldwide.

MEG played a pivotal role in Ethiopia’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) project, the largest of its kind in the country’s history, aimed at reducing Ethiopia’s high infant mortality rate. In partnership with UNICEF and the Ethiopian Ministry of Public Health, the organisation equipped 80 health facilities with advanced medical devices and essential neonatal care solutions.

The comprehensive initiative included the selection, sourcing, and delivery of specialised equipment, installation and commissioning of systems, and training of local staff. To ensure sustainability, MEG provides ongoing maintenance, after-sales support, and a train-the-trainer program, empowering local biomedical engineers and healthcare professionals. By addressing critical gaps in healthcare infrastructure and expertise, the project not only improves neonatal outcomes but also advances Ethiopia’s wider public health goals.

Role of TFHC

“Through the TFHC network, MEG seeks to showcase the impact of the NICU project in Ethiopia, building visibility for its health system interventions and enabling new partnerships. This collaboration strengthens opportunities to expand MEG’s global impact and to connect with organisations pursuing similar missions.”

Results & Next Steps

The NICU project demonstrates the value MEG creates through targeted health system interventions and comprehensive public–private healthcare solutions. Building on this success, the company aims to support more governments in strengthening healthcare systems by expanding activities around turn-key projects in low- and middle-income countries worldwide.
