How This Event Supports Your Growth
California is, in economic terms, by far the largest state in the US and its healthcare market is equally vast, making it an attractive entry point for Dutch LSH organisations in digital health, MedTech, telemedicine, and medical devices. The Greater Los Angeles Area has established itself as a leading hub for these fields, with advanced hospitals and research institutions that actively collaborate with innovators on the integration of digital technologies and smart medical devices. The region also hosts a fast-growing startup scene and investor network focused on solving concrete healthcare challenges, offering valuable opportunities for partnership, validation, and market access.
San Diego provides an additional advantage for Dutch companies aiming to scale in the US. As one of the most prominent life sciences and MedTech clusters in the country, San Diego combines translational research with a dense ecosystem of health tech companies, accelerators, and investors. For organisations developing digital care solutions or next-generation medical devices, this creates extra routes for collaboration and growth.
What to Expect?
The Netherlands Business Support Office (NBSO) in Los Angeles, the Consulate-General of the Netherlands in San Fransisco, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and Task Force Health Care (TFHC) organise the LSH mission to California as part of the multiannual SMM LSH United States programme.
During the mission, the delegation will meet a wide variety of stakeholders in Los Angeles and San Diego. The programme will include:
- Preparatory workshop in the Netherlands, focused on pitch training and perspectives from California.
- Site visits in and around Los Angeles and San Diego to private hospitals, universities, research institutes, health networks, and innovation hubs.
- Seminars and/or roundtable discussions on market access, regulatory approval (FDA), commercialization, reimbursement, and collaboration models.
- Networking with key opinion leaders and potential partners in the US healthcare sector.
